Where to buy stamps in Manhattan

The island of Manhattan was once the land of many stamps dealers. It actually means 'land of many hills' in the aboriginal tongue. The hills remain, but the stamps dealers got chased out; Nassau Street became too expensive for philatelists, yuppies and drug dealers now buy high rises and there is no parking. But the trade lives on with two outdoor markets - one every Saturday on 25th Street where a number of dealers peddle stamps. There is Nick, a Dominica, who gets new stock in each week, and Pete the Greek who also sells coins. Other dealers get stamps in sporadically. Most sell way below catalogue and it's a well kept secret. Sundays there is market near Central Park at 76th & Columbus, where a number of dealers sell stamps but mostly a Russian named Leon who has great deals and rotating stock. Inside there is a coin dealer who holds court, Diego, who has an entire range up to the high end - Leon also deals coins but more plebian and mid range. So stamps, and coins, are still around and lots of fun to hunt for them in the flea markets among the many hills of this island paradise.
